About the role

Corporate Director for Community

Salary £138,078 – £150,774 + development package

Believe in yourself. Believe in Harrow.

The role

You’ll report directly to the Chief Executive, and lead and direct the strategic and general management of council services such as housing, environmental health, commercial development, planning, property repair and maintenance, public realm services and arts and events. Budgets for which you’ll take responsibility include:

• Revenue budget (£80m)

• Capital budget (£18m)

• Housing Revenue Account (£32m)

• Housing Revenue Account Capital (£22m)

While this is a senior local government role, we’re keen to hear from people with experience or looking to step up in their career as well as those with transferable experience currently working in other sectors. Your leadership, attitude and focus on service are what’s important. We’re committed to development here at Harrow so we’ll support you to be successful if you bring the right attitude. Support those stepping up or transferring from other sectors.

Our development support includes mentoring and coaching, and the opportunity to attend the ADEPT/Solace Executive Director Leadership Programme and the Excellence in Place ADEPT programme.

About you

Harrow is a diverse borough and we want a leadership team to match. As such, we’re open to a range of unique talent and experiences. If you have the right attitude, leadership potential and transferable skills then we want to hear from you.

There’s no single professional route into this role. Perhaps you work in local government as a Director or Assistant Director, or maybe your career has been in the third sector, the leisure industry, the private sector or with a housing association. What’s vital is that you understand frontline services, can demonstrate how you’ve kept them safe and/or improved them in a previous role, and can show us how you’ll do the same for these services in Harrow.

You’ll be joining a great team of talented professionals, and there’ll be the opportunity to build your senior leadership team further and recruit lead specialists where needed.

If you’re committed to a vibrant, diverse Harrow, and would like to use your experience and leadership to drive services for our residents, please contact our retained consultants at Penna for further information: Julie Towers 07764 791736 or Az Ahmed 07717 810481
