Our vision and values

Here at Harrow Council, our vision is:
Working together to make a difference for Harrow

In creating a modern, forward-thinking organisation we have an ambitious plan for Harrow’s future that aims to:

  • Build a better Harrow
  • Be more business-like and business friendly
  • Protect the most vulnerable and support families

To achieve this, we’ve developed a set of values that describe what we stand for and how we do things. These values are:

Be courageous

We look for solutions, not barriers. We question the way things are done, take ambitious decisions, deliver on our promises and inspire others to 'Think Big'.

Do it together

We work collaboratively across teams and departments, sharing knowledge and listening to others’ opinions, so we can make the right decisions. We value diversity and always treat each other with empathy and respect.

Make it happen

We set ourselves clear targets, identify what success looks like and focus on results. We take an agile approach, acting quickly and decisively and enabling the people around us to be more effective.

Everyone who works here shares these values and applies them every day, from challenging a process or creating efficiencies to working across teams or supporting a customer.

Equal Opportunities

As community leaders, we aim to build a council that truly reflects the communities we serve. So we are committed to ensuring that everybody has equal access to our career opportunities and that our roles are accessible to all. This means we treat everyone the same, regardless of their age, disability, gender, reassignment, race, religion or belief, sex, sexual orientation, marriage or civil partnership and pregnancy or maternity, unless a Genuine Occupational Qualification applies.

This includes making adjustments or changes for disabled people or people with long-term health conditions. If you would like us to do anything differently during the recruitment process, or provide any information in an alternative format, please contact Julie Towers 07764 791736 or Az Ahmed 07717 810481
